Our country manor Quinta das Barradas is located in Odiáxere in the Western Algarve, 6 km from the city of Lagos. Pretty beaches and the majestic Monchique Mountains are also part of a beautiful landscape of colour and emotions.
Odiáxere is a small picturesque village with its whitewashed houses and pretty chimneys. Flat roof terraces are used to dry figs, almonds and corn. The village church dates from the Manuelina Epoch (King Manuel I) and is decorated with beautiful floor tiles from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Manuelina Art dates from the end of the 16th century and already presents features of the early Renaissance, Moorish, Oriental and Indian influences. Its ornaments are rich and exuberant.
Lagos has an ancient seafaring tradition and it’s the city of D. Henrique, the Navigator who planned voyages of discovery into the unknown world. Lagos is a charming small town with narrow alleys, cafés, bars and restaurants, small shops and a good night life.
