For us it`s a simple decision ... Why organic? We want to provide our guests and customers with fresh, tasty, nutrition packed authentic food. Our farming principles aim to respect natural life cycles and minimise human impact on our environment .... Because it’s just the right way to do it...

Our Farm

Fruit and vegetable cultivation

Fruit and vegetables have been grown at the Quinta since the 18th century and were at that time primarily exported to far off Prussia. This tradition has been preserved over the years and we still harvest avocados, lemons, oranges, nectarines, plums, peaches, pumpkins, carob, chillies, tomatoes, herbs and much more. These are used both in the kitchen of the Quinta das Barradas and in the restaurant of our sister hotel Boutique Hotel Vivenda Miranda.

Wild Food Fine Food

A project close to our hearts: Our Organic Delights. We offer our own range of organic, locally sourced food products. All these delicious jams, marmalades and spreads are homemade in our own kitchen from healthy, ethically grown produce and contain only the freshest of natural ingredients. Our Flor de Sal (salt) is harvested by hand, locally by artisan farmers in the protected reserve of the Ria Formosa.

Our Animals

Our furry and feathered friends such as ducks, chickens and a pig that live happily in their wooden stables at the end of our Quinta, are always happy to be visited. With a little patience, you may also discover the turtle, which, though very sedentary, wanders through the estate. Of course not to be forgotten are our kittens and the peacock couple...
